Please Stop :: Christ Steals Culture

I think I have finally decided to start ranting on my blog, since I like to do it so much in my daily life.
My first topic of discussion has to do with the idea that taking a well known icon/graphic/slogan/song and twisting it to have a Christian theme. I don't know who started this, or how long ago, I just know it needs to stop.
In case you don't know what I'm talking about...

Case and Point: Sprite turned into Spirit, isn't it just the cutest thing you have ever seen. What the hell is wrong with you people? ITS NOT COOL, NO ONE LIKES IT BUT YOU...and your grandma.
I have been working at a church and been going to district retreats and it seems like we can't just have a retreat. It has to be a "Fantastic Four" Retreat (of course the Fantastic Four are Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) or we have a "Christian Eye for the World's Cry" Retreat, or a Windows (yes, the software) Retreat (we have different editions for different age groups and part of the theme is to XPlore...did you catch the 'XP' like Windows XP...). I don't know how anyone in their right mind would think "Hey, I've got it, lets have a retreat with a theme based off of software. I'm sure the senior high kids will think it's cool and of course this is going to help them grow closer to God."
The problem is: YOU PEOPLE WHO MAKE THIS STUFF UP ARE CAUSING KIDS TO NOT LISTEN TO ANYTHING YOU SAY BECAUSE YOU LOOK LIKE IDIOTS WHO HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THESE KIDS LIKE OR WHAT THESE KIDS ARE LIKE.
Please be original, authentic, and pay attention.
let me know when you can swing by and i'll get you a copy of that music!
I wonder how much a Can of Spirit would cost at the corner store...
I would buy it ;)
i like rants, and look forward to your rants to come...

I agree totally. These types of things make me sick...it makes Christians look like people who can't come up with anything on our own. We just look like people who steal your name or slogan and twist it to sound Christian. Keep ranting.
