My Redemptive Story (or should I say Song?)

I just watched ‘Walk the Line’…you know, the Johnny Cash story. I don’t want to ruin it, so I won’t. But there is a huge, huge story of Redemption. The theme of redemption that I want to harp on is the one between June Carter and Johnny. The story reminds me of my own.

I am a newly wed, and all of those out there who are married, know all the problems and joys that come with that. Throughout the movie I resonated with Johnny Cash with his family issues. I watched him, how it affected him, and realized (or should I say remembered) my own issues. I felt pain, I cried. There is this point where Johnny finds his redemption through June, and then a few minutes later June finds her redemption through Johnny. And something just kind of snapped in my head. My wife and I have had our issues, a lot of that coming from our crappy family situations growing up, but we are each others redemption.

I feel free somehow right now, and deeply, deeply in love.
